Enterprise Volunteer Fire Co. currently offers two firefighter programs to interested men and women. The majority of high school students will qualify for the Jr. Firefighter program due to age restrictions. The Active Firefighter is available to any one over the age of 18.  Fire Police Officer, and Ladies' Auxiliary programs are also available. All applicants must be at least 16 years of age, though different positions have different requirments that will be explained below.
Jr .Firefighters

Jr. Firefighters are those between the ages of 16 and 18 who do not yet qualify to attend the required firefighter certification class. These members will train with active firefighters and respond on fire calls to assist in on-scene operations such as retrieving tools and equipment, and perform support functions such as refilling air bottles to gain on-the-job experience. For this purpose Jr. Firefighters are provided with the same protective equipment as active Firefighters free of charge.
Fire Police

Fire Police provide a crucial support function on emergency scenes. A Fire Police member will respond to calls in their personal vehicle along with fire apparatus and assist firefighters and police officers in controlling the surroundings and securing the fire scene. To qualify for certification you must be at least 18 years of age.
Firefighters

Members over 18 qualify for the contributing Firefighter program, as well as Firefighter 1 (firefighter certification class.) After completing this class, these members will be considered Firefighters. Firefighters provide a wide range of services to their community and will use the skills and knowledge they have gained from Firefighter 1 in the field on fire incidents, rescues, and other hazardous conditions. Firefighters will be provided with protective equipment and enrolled in Firefighter classes free of charge.
Ladies' Auxiliary

Although we encourage women to volunteer as firefighters, those who aren't interested may want to consider this option. Ladies' Auxiliary members provide crucial support function to firefighters in the field. Ladies respond to the scene to provide hot and cold beverages and food to firefighters and other emergency personnel who are committed on long term or large scale incidents.
To apply for membership, and to participate in any of the programs above, visit the firehouse at 569 Klockner Rd., 12 blocks north from Nottingham High School, on a meeting night. Meetings are held on all but the third Monday of the month between 8 and 10pm. Any question can be forwarded to CChrisner@enterprisefire.org
